The lighting industry looks very different from when Viscor was established in 1952. Manufacturing has consolidated, global sourcing has expanded and many products specified on Canadian projects now travel considerable distances before reaching the job site.
Against that backdrop, Leviton Certolux Visioneering continues something increasingly difficult to find: substantial lighting engineering and manufacturing based in Canada.
Manufacturing Still Happens in Toronto
Formerly recognized broadly under the Viscor name, the Toronto operation is now presented through Leviton’s Certolux and Visioneering lighting brands. Acquired by Leviton in 2019, the operation continues more than seven decades of Canadian lighting manufacturing experience.
Today, Certolux and Visioneering continue that manufacturing legacy from Toronto, with design, engineering and production capabilities operating under one roof.
This is not simply a Canadian sales office representing products manufactured elsewhere.
Certolux and Visioneering operate as vertically integrated manufacturers, managing design, engineering, fabrication, testing and production within a centralized Toronto facility.
The operation also includes automated paint systems, in-house lens forming and processing, accredited testing facilities and custom packaging capabilities.
That level of vertical integration provides greater control over product quality, lead times and customization while reducing dependence on multiple external manufacturing partners.

Canadian Manufacturing in a Changing Trade Environment
The current trade environment between Canada and the United States is another reminder of how quickly sourcing conditions can change.
Leviton Certolux Visioneering combines local engineering, vertically integrated production and specialized manufacturing capabilities within its Toronto operation.
In a market increasingly affected by tariffs, lead-time uncertainty and supply-chain risk, that proximity offers Canadian projects something increasingly valuable: access to manufacturing capability closer to home.
For Canadian projects, proximity also creates another advantage: the engineering and manufacturing teams responsible for the product are considerably closer to the market they serve.
More Than Standard Production
The Toronto operation is built around both standard and project-specific manufacturing.
Its in-house engineering teams develop and modify luminaires for architectural, commercial, industrial, healthcare and cleanroom applications.
That flexibility is particularly relevant for projects involving unusual dimensions, specialized environments, performance requirements or retrofit conditions.
The company also supports 347V systems, custom sizing, unique ceiling grids and specialized configurations commonly found in Canadian projects.

Two Brands, Different Applications
Under Leviton, the Toronto manufacturing operation is represented through two established lighting brands: Visioneering and Certolux.
Visioneering serves architectural, commercial and general specification applications.
Certolux focuses on more specialized environments, including healthcare, cleanrooms, behavioral health, vandal-resistant applications, hazardous locations and other technically demanding spaces.
Together, the two brands allow the Toronto operation to support both conventional commercial projects and highly specialized applications.

Leviton Certolux Visioneering continues a long-standing Canadian manufacturing legacy while giving project teams access to engineering, production and specialized capabilities closer to home. At a time when sourcing, lead times and supply-chain reliability matter more than ever, that local manufacturing presence remains a meaningful advantage for Canadian projects.
